Who We Are

We are farmers and conservationists who have grown from a small family-owned business into one of the largest native seed providers in the East. Our success comes from our commitment to clean, high-quality seed; the development of ecotypes adapted to each region we serve; and an experienced, knowledgeable staff dedicated to friendly, helpful service. We focus on quality and service because every success we bring our customers is a living demonstration—and an incentive—for others to use natives.

Our Origins

Roundstone Native Seed is located in the “Big Barrens” of central Kentucky, a region of eastern prairie that prior to European settlement covered more than three million acres with tallgrass prairie and savannah. With significant remnants of this original grassland on their farm, Randy and John Seymour began propagating this native seed in an effort to help The Nature Conservancy in its quest for ecotype seed for its preserves. More than two decades later, Roundstone Native Seed has become one of the premier providers of exceptional regionally adapted native seed in the United States.

Our Commitment

At Roundstone Native Seed, our focus is simple - put the right seed in the right place. We collect and grow seed from the regions we serve to ensure adapted seed for success. As seed producers we must know natives and how to successfully establish them. Our goal is to bring that knowledge to you, along with regionally adapted, quality, ecotype seed. Whether for your landscaping, roadside, wildlife habitat, wetland, construction projects, farm bill program, or livestock forage, our seed can meet your needs.

Why Choose Roundstone?

We do our best to grow a wide variety of native plants from a harvest of what nature provides for over 300 individual species and continue to increase species and collections every year. We produce, clean, condition, and procure quality seed that is as clean as possible and backed by an independent certified seed test. We take some of those seeds and use them to create hundreds of different pre-designed seed mixes for specific uses, and we specialize in creating custom mixes for every situation.

We insist on quality because we wouldn’t have it any other way, and we love native plants because they’re sort of like family.

That’s who we are.
