Hesperis matronalis is a 2' to 4' tall spring flowering wildflower with 6" to 18" racemes of tubular blue flowers. It is a naturalized biennial/perennial growing in full sun or part shade and prefers medium to moist soil moisture sites. The common name is Dame's Rocket. It is an easy-to-establish and easy-to-grow garden flower that lasts for years due to abundant plants resulting from self-seeding. Dead-heading will substantially prolong the bloom period. It is an excellent plant for naturalized meadows, gardens and borders. The primary pollinators are butterflies and moths. In some states, this garden plant sometimes escapes and is considered a noxious weed.
