Missouri Ironweed (Vernonia missurica)
Missouri Ironweed is a 3' to 6' tall native perennial with a native distribution primarily in the central states, and actually is known from Florida to Arizona up to Michigan. It features multiple terminal clusters of very showy clusters of small deep purple composite flowers. This plant prefers medium to wet soils in full sun. It is usually found in moist meadows, lowland thickets, and low areas along streambanks but may also be found along dry to damp roadsides, prairies and other open areas. In the garden it is used for borders, native plant gardens, wildflower meadows, and conservation seed mixes. It is a mecca for insects, and is a must for butterfly and pollinator gardens. Prices listed are based on pure live seed weight, not bulk weight. You are only paying for viable seed.
