Silky Wildrye flowers in late spring and prefers medium to moist soils and partial shade. It is usually found growing in deciduous woodlands, woodland borders, savannas, and moist thickets. This is an excellent plant for woodland gardens and moist shaded borders. This plant provides valuable cover for wildlife in woodland settings.
