Mix NS-MM1 - Northern Monarch Milkweed Mix

Mix NS-MM1 (Northern Monarch Milkweed Mix) is designed for the environmental conditions of the Northern Tier States and for sites with dry to moist soils.  Monarch larva can only feed on milkweed plants.  A mix of 4 milkweed species that are host plants and food sources for Monarch larva as well as nectar sources for adult Monarchs.  Only milkweed species native to the southern region are included.  Monarchs require multiple generations over a long growing period to complete their migration cycle and it is critical plant material be available to feed the larva from early spring to late fall.  This mix of milkweeds provides a season long source of food for the Monarch larva.  Mix NS-MM1 contains the following 4 species of milkweed:  Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa), Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnate), and Showy Milkweed (Asclepias speciosa).
