Soft Rush (Juncus effusus ssp. solutus)
Soft Rush is a 2' to 4' tall native perennial wetland plant. It is found in all but three of the lower 48 states and features smooth, hollow, leafless culms growing from spreading clumps. The tiny flowers are in clusters emerging from the side of the culm near the top. Soft Rush is found around the edges and in the shallows of ponds, swamps, lakes, and in ditches, wet fields, and marshes. It prefers full sun sites, but will grow in part shade. Soft Rush provides shoreline erosion protection, filters toxins from the water, and is heavily utilized by waterfowl, muskrats, wading birds, and other wildlife. Prices listed are based on pure live seed weight, not bulk weight. You are only paying for viable seed.
