Wheat is a 2' to 3½' tall spring flowering grass. It is a naturalized annual that grows best in full sun, but will tolerate some shade, and in dry to medium soil moisture sites. Wheat is often planted as a source of food for wildlife and residual grain of crops is a major food source for migratory waterfowl.
